     On November 20, 2007, Dr. Mehmet Oz, “America’s Doctor,” made the stunning statement that “… the next big frontier in medicine is energy medicine.”  He said this on Oprah, the largest stage in America.  I was quite impressed that he would do so since I’m sure many of his mainstream medical colleagues would be outraged.  After all, the pharmaceutical companies and many physicians don’t likely want anybody to know about drugless and non-surgical methods that cost way less, and are corrective and preventative in nature.

So why did Dr. Oz say this?  

     Of course I can’t speak for him, but I’m certain it’s because he has the courage (and the media power) to stand up for people... and that he does not ignore the reality that millions of people around the world are consistently responding to bio-energetic medicine tests and treatments… and because they are extraordinarily safe and comparatively less expensive.

     It appears that Dr. Oz has the integrity to promote bio-energetic medicine even though critics will argue that there isn't "enough hard data."  In this article you will learn about a methods that have been extraordinarily successful worldwide.  No patient would argue that if something works nearly every time... if they can feel it working... and it's completely safe... that you don't need a pile of multi-million dollar-funded, peer-reviewed medical journal studies to tell you it's good!

      Modern Medicine... Without the Medicine 

     The human body has an incredible ability to heal itself if it is given a chance. In our world today, environmental pollutants, everyday stress, and germs are constantly wearing down our bodies. There are many ways you can choose to improve your health.  Bio-energetic Medicine is a blossoming field, comprised of procedures that combine Eastern medicine with Western technology.  Detecting and correcting disrupted energy systems is its focus.  It has been accepted by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) in the United States.  There are many effective methods and practices.  Some have been scientifically verified, while others have not.  In this article, you will learn about one of the most exciting,but little-known approaches: the sophisticated science of Auricular Medicine, which I utilize in my practice.  This remarkable method is at the forefront of the scientific bio-energetic medicine revolution.  

The Subtle Signals of Electro-Magnetism

     The goal of bio-energetic medicine is to unravel the mysteries of the human body through investigating the subtle electromagnetic energy fields of the body.  We seek to discover weakness and imbalances, and in turn, determine effective means to correct them—before they lead to chemical and structural damage.  All of the cells and tissues of our bodies generate electric currents.  This is a well-established scientific fact.   Objective scientific instruments such as an EKG to monitor heart function are amongst the many medical technologies that measure electrical changes in the body.  An electroencephalogram (EEG) records electrical activity in the brain nerve cells.  Muscle activity can be evaluated through an electromyogram (EMG).  A polygraph or “lie detector” is an electrical detector as well.  Our bodies are regulated and controlled by a quantum energy field.  

On the Surface of the Skin

     In the late 1950s, German physician Reinhold Voll, M.D. discovered that when an internal organ’s function or structure was disturbed—subtle electrical changes could be detected on certain points on the surface of the skin.  The Chinese had established these as acupuncture points thousands of years prior; however Dr. Voll electrically confirmed them with a scientific instrument.  Voll pioneered modern electro-dermal screening.  It works by measuring electrical resistance and polarization on the skin.  This is a safe, quick and painless measurement, which enables analysis of your bio-energetic system.  Dr. Voll also discovered that a medication, food, supplement or any object placed in contact with a person’s body, would affect electro-dermal readings.  He found that merely holding a medication in ones hand could stimulate a measured change in the body sufficient to determine if it would be effective or not (In a moment you will learn how these principles are applied today).

     Despite these long-established medical technologies, doctors have been slow to understanding that the first sign of diminished health is vibrational or electromagnetic.  Frequency damage is stored like computer memory inside your cells.  This can accumulate without any outward sign or symptom for years—long before any noticeable chemical or structural damage shows up.  With such energetic damage, germs can have more fertile ground to multiply.  In other words, it appears that a great deal of disease begins due to electrical interference in our bodies and altered cellular vibrational frequencies, created by a variety of causes.

The Working Principle of Bio-Energetic Medicine is that Energy IS the “Medicine”

     Your body has the inborn capacity to energetically respond to stresses, illnesses or threats.  Life is energy.  As living beings, we project a measurable electromagnetic field around our bodies.  This is well-established and undisputed scientific fact.  Bio-energetic medicine is the detection and correction of energy blockages and weaknesses in the body, utilizing various medical devices and human observations.  It involves attention to vibrational frequencies including those of electricity, magnetism, heat, light, sound, gravity, pressure and mechanical energy.  Treatment involves procedures that focus on these factors to stimulate the repair of tissues.  Such evaluations can tell us a great deal about our health—leading to safe, effective and highly affordable treatments.   

Different Models of Health and Disease

     Conventional Western medicine has operated under the assumption that ill health is the result of chemical imbalances, resulting in structural problems or pathology.  It functions based upon the principles of Newtonian physics.  This is a machinist viewpoint—that our bodies are controlled by our brains, with various parts that may need replacement, or medication for symptoms.  Subsequently, treatment comes largely in the form of chemicals (prescription drugs) and surgery, that don’t reverse or prevent the degenerative process.   This technological mindset does not consider the fact that energy is what animates and vitalizes living systems.  Rarely does this approach address the reasons why the chemical imbalances have come to exist.  

What Would Einstein Say?

     Albert Einstein proved that energy and matter are dual expressions of the same thing.  That’s what “E = mc2” is all about.  98 percent of the universe is energy.  However, Western medicine pays attention primarily to the 2 percent that is matter. 

     Bio-energetic medicine on the other hand, is based upon Einsteinian physics—utilizing both physical and energetic techniques to evaluate and treat the body. 

     It acknowledges Einstein's theory of relativity, with a deep appreciation of the vital living electro-magnetic energy force.  There’s no doubt that both physical, chemical and energetic approaches are necessary to prevent and treat disease.

     Public understanding of this is rapidly changing due to the phenomenal work of modern researchers like James Oschman, PhD., the world’s leading authority on the science of bio-energetic medicine.  Dr. Oschman has worked in major research labs around the world.  His scientific papers have been published in leading journals.  According to Dr. Oschman, it is pure myth that there is no scientific basis for energetic medicine.  In fact, he states that it has a greater scientific basis than chemistry-based or pharmacological medicine!  

     Dr. Oschman lectures worldwide about the “living matrix system” of connective tissue that extends throughout the whole body.  It is a liquid crystalline structure that acts as a “semiconducting electronic network.”  Dr. Oschman calls it an "energetic nervous system" that conducts packets of energy and information instead of nerve impulses.   Recent research conducted by biophysicists has proven that our bodies respond to tiny energy fields of the appropriate frequency, intensity, and pulse shape. 

The Resonant Frequency Principle 

    Every object has a resonant frequency.  This means that if you hit, pluck or heat it—it will vibrate at a specific rate or frequency.  This is the case with musical instruments, such as a drum, a guitar string or a xylophone.  Each distinct musical note is the result of a vibrational frequency.  If two different objects naturally vibrate at a certain frequency, they can become energetically connected… even without touching.  This can be easily demonstrated with tuning forks of the same frequency.  Or think of an opera singer who can break a wine glass by singing a certain note.  She’s energetically connecting with the exact frequency of the glass, causing its atoms to vibrate so violently that the glass shatters.

    Every cell, tissue and organ of our bodies has a specific normal vibrational frequency.  But they can become out of frequency, sort of like a guitar or piano being out of tune.  Frequency-based energy treatments can safely and naturally vibrate cells back to their normal healthy frequency.  The identification of specific electromagnetic frequencies of different molecules has allowed modern science to detect problems in the human body in an astonishing fashion.  In turn, healing can be promoted by utilizing frequency-specific treatments, such as cold laser light, homeopathy, electro-acupuncture and other safe, painless, non-invasive and affordable methods.  

     Perhaps someday soon, “mainstream” medicine will “discover” Bio-energetic Medicine.   American physicians and the public tend to view it as a radical approach—compared to pain relief and health through drugs.  The fundamental principle of Western medicine, when it comes to treating pain, is to BLOCK or suppress pain signals with drugs.  Obviously conventional medicine can save lives and get people through a health crisis; its breakthroughs should be applauded.  But we must not remain ignorant of the stunning effectiveness of energy medicine alternatives. Fortunately more and more practitioners and researchers are acknowledging that electromagnetic energy fields (both inside and outside the body) affect our biochemistry.      

Can Bio-Energetic Testing Diagnosis an Illness? 

     When it comes to Bio-energetic Medicine, the terms "diagnosis" and "treatment" have completely different meanings from those of conventional Western medicine.  With conventional medical diagnosis, an illness is identified and treated according to that diagnosis.

     Bio-energetic testing is actually not diagnosis at all (by its medical-legal definition), nor is it a replacement for such.  Rather it is a process of detecting where your body has disturbances or blockages to energy systems.  

     Your symptoms may provide a starting point for evaluation, but they are not the main focus. In fact, the same symptoms in two different people may be the result of completely different energetic imbalances.  Subsequently, treatment is not something that is matched to a diagnosis either.  It is energetic balancing—customized to each person’s needs.  Its purpose is to trigger a healing response.  It is not a treatment for any disease in the strict medical sense, nor should it be considered a replacement for medical intervention.  However, it is often the case that people seek this approach because conventional medical testing and treatment has failed them.   

Bio-Energetic Evaluation: Auricular Medicine

     The testing procedure I utilize is called Auricular medicine.  The term, “auricular” means pertaining to the outer ear—the auricle.  Auricular Medicine involves complex systems of subtle energy and physical reflexes, and exact anatomical frequencies, which enable the doctor to precisely obtain tremendous amounts of information about your health.  It is a fascinating, sophisticated system of evaluating the human body—the brainchild of Neurologist, Paul Nogier, M.D. (1908-1996).  He was a phenomenal scientist, and a pioneer in the field of bio-energetic medicine. Dr. Nogier taught neurology at the medical school in Lyon, France.  In 1981 he was decorated with one of the most prestigious French awards, honoring his contribution to medicine. 

     I am very proud to one of the few American doctors to carry on his work, which has several components that I will now describe.

 The Discovery: the “Man in the Ear”  

     The ear has been used as an approach to treating disease in various forms, dating back to ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and Persia.  The ancient Chinese used only a scattered array of acupuncture points on the ear for just a few health problems.  But in the 1950's, Dr. Nogier noticed a strange scar on the upper ear of some of his patients. He found that all of them had been treated for sciatica pain by a local practitioner, Madame Barrin.  She had cauterized (intentionally burned) a specific area of the external ear in order to relieve their low back pain.  She had no idea why or how it worked.  Dr. Nogier conducted a similar procedure on his own sciatica patients and found that their back pain was also reduced.  He then tried other means of stimulating this "sciatica point," including the use of acupuncture needles, and found that they helped with the sciatic pain too. 

     Dr. Nogier brilliantly took this observation and developed it into a comprehensive science.  He theorized that if an area of the upper external ear is effective in treating low back pain, maybe other parts of the ear could treat other parts of the body.

     Traditional “Western” medicine looks to the human ear as only an organ of hearing.  However, Dr. Nogier’s research revealed that the ear is energetically connected to the entire body—a “microsystem.”  Tuncture system representing the entire body. Every structure of the human body could be mapped on the outer ear — the auricle. 

     He observed that the ear could be compared to an upside-down human fetus; the head represented by the lower ear lobe, the feet at the top of the ear, and the rest of the body in-between.  This model was first presented in France in 1957, then spread to Germany, and finally was translated into Chinese.  In 1958 the Chinese adopted this model, and acknowledged Nogier as the “Father of Auricular Therapy.”   

    Around 1966, Dr. Nogier and his research team then discovered that the surface of the ear is actually a 3-dimensional, holographic projection of the anatomy, as well as the bioenergetic status of the entire body.  

     A hologram is a 3-dimensional image of an object, which contains the information of the object itself… and in EVERY PART of itself.  Dennis Gabor theorized the concept of holography in 1947.  Leith and Upatniecks introduced it practically by 1964.           Nogier realized that the ear at all times, presents us with a 3-dimensional “image” created by energy interference patterns.  This in turn, meant that theremust be three distinct mappings (holographic energy phases) of the body which exist on the ear, depending upon the nature of the health condition (acute, chronic or degenerative). 

  What is most fascinating is the fact that there are no direct nerve connections between the ear and the rest of the body.  The nerves from the ear however, are intimately connected to reflex centers in the brain, which sends neurological reflex messages to the spinal cord and then to nerves connecting to the corresponding part of the body.  They are in constant communication.  Imagine your brain as a computer. Inside this computer is a “map” of the entire body.  This map is projected onto your EAR through your nervous system.  Finding the points on the map is like using a computer’s keyboard or mouse to gain entrance into the system.   

     With auricular bio-energetic testing, we can treat the body through the brain’s “computer.”  When there is a problem somewhere in your body, we can detect ear acupuncture points corresponding to the organs or tissue involved. By treating these points by various means, we energetically trigger or “jump start” a natural healing response. 

     These acupuncture points are confirmed electrically by means of an instrument called the NET-2000.  It is a sophisticated electro-dermal testing instrument that has its basis in the work of Dr. Reinhold Voll, described earlier in this article.  European researchers are far advanced in the development of diagnostic and treatment devices based on electro-acupuncture.   I am proud to be at the forefront of an American movement to improve health by furthering these principles.  

The Bio-electrical Field (BEF)    

     Under normal healthy conditions (without stress) our ears project an electric field a distance of no more than 1 centimeter outwards.  However, the field expands farther away from your ear whenever your body reacts to any disturbance, stress or illness.  Relatively few American doctors seem to consider its significance despite the fact that the bio-electric field has been long recognized and scientifically proven. 

     Yale University neuro-anatomist, Dr. Harold Burr was famous for his research that revealed an electrical axis that was in line with the brain and spinal cords of salamanders.  He scientifically verified that bio-electric fields form a “blueprint” for the physical form of living things.  Further research has revealed that abnormal health conditions result in changes to the body’s electric field.  Thanks to Dr. Paul Nogier’s ingenious methods, we are able to detect extraordinary information about what is going on in your body.  With Auricular Bio-energetic testing, we can study of how various stimuli affect the size of the electric field around your ear.  This leads us to the next important Nogier discovery…

The Pulse Response: Vascular Autonomic Signal (VAS)

     The taking of one’s pulse has been a valuable health indicator for thousands of years. It has been an undisputed means for determining the health status of the human body in both “Eastern” and “Western” medicine.  The Chinese have observed pulses for more than 4,000 years—seeking subtle sensations for insight into the energy pathways (meridians) of the body.  This is in contrast to Western medicine’s interest in the pulse for evaluating the function of the heart and the entire cardiovascular system (rate and rhythm of the arterial pulse).  

     Dr. Nogier’s research revealed another astonishing aspect of the human pulse—a diagnostic tool that prior to 1966, had not been considered by both Eastern and Western medicine.  He discovered a pulse reflex—an immediate response the cardiovascular system has to any stimuli to the body.  It is called Vascular Autonomic Signal (VAS).  Over the past forty years, Dr. Paul Nogier’s discovery has been carried on by several thousand physicians around the world.  

     Here’s what the VAS is all about:

    The doctor lightly holds a pulse point on your wrist (radial artery) while adding and removing various test substances to a metal test plate called the Honeycomb filter.  This connects by wire to your body as you hold one metal bar in your hand, with the other on your neck or belly.  This completes a circuit between the Honeycomb and you, which transmits the vibratory frequency signals of the test substances to your body.  The test substances can cause a temporary change in the distance of the electric field projected out from your ear.  This is measured by subtle changes in the strength of the pulse, observed while gliding a specially prepared 3-frequency gel filter towards your ear.  When the filter reaches the outer barrier of your electric field, a stronger, harder or vibrating pulse is felt by the doctor, who observes the distance from your ear.  This pulse response is created by a momentary increase in the muscle tension of the artery.  This enables us to obtain an incredible amount of information about your body’s energetic systems, in a “question and answer” fashion. 

     The VAS is a physical reflex response that can help guide us to exact areas of the body in need of treatment. It enables your body to tell us what it “likes and dislikes” by its immediate effect on the distance of your electric field projecting from your ear. 

     We can therefore test and accurately predict which treatments will likely be effective for you—without you having to actually take them or purchase them!   This enables each patient’s treatment to be customized to their body’s needs.  We test the effects of many things such as: light wavelengths and frequencies, specific nutrients, medicines, toxins, etc.  This procedure can be highly effective in solving mysteries of chronic health problems for which no conventional medical testing can detect any physical findings.   

Auricular Medicine Testing Kits

     Test kits are made up of various little glass containers or vials that contain  samples of biological compounds, tissue samples, foods, vitamins, minerals, medicines, chemicals, electromagnetic frequency signatures, etc.  Specialized color filters and laser light of different frequencies are also used.  Throughout the exam, these substances are placed in the Honeycomb Filter.  This provides an effective, reproducible, comfortable and convenient means of bio-energetic testing.

     According to physicist Kue-Gen Chen, all matter produces a unique vibration signal (frequency), including medicines, other biological reagents, as well as every organs and tissue of the body.   Bio-energetic testing “phase modulates” any testing substance, which conducts its vibrational signal into the body.   This signal triggers responses with already existing vibrational patterns in your body.  According to Dr. Chen, a “phase match” results in instantaneous changes in the subtle energetics of the area being tested.  It allow us to know whether or not the substance creates a beneficial resonance.  

     It’s important to understand that with resonance, molecules do not have to touch to interact with each other to create an effect.  Think of your television remote control, which changes channels and performs other functions by means of matching frequencies.  You can unlock your car with a remote keypad by the same principle.   This is precisely what is done using test vials in the Honeycomb filter.  We test how your body responds to the frequencies of different substances by monitoring your pulse as we test how different substances affect distance of your bio-electric field from your ear.  

     Patients around the world have used this same process to test for information regarding toxins, allergies or food sensitivities.  This provides pinpoint treatment suggestions, which can be tracked for effectiveness through follow-up testing.  Homeopathic formulas play a key role in treatment and are extremely effective utilizing this testing method.  Homeopathic medicines are ultra-diluted samples of different substances that possess “vibrational information.”  Some of these preparations are made from plant matter, while others are made from tissue samples.  Homeopathy is discussed in detail in a separate article on this website.

 “Is Auricular Medicine a replacement for medical diagnosis and treatment?”

      Auricular Bio-energetic testing is under NO circumstances a replacement for conventional medical care.  I provide it as an addition or “complement” to existing medical evaluation.  I cannot stress enough that I do NOT diagnose or treat ANY medical condition with it.  I am a responsible doctor, who recognizes and recommends that you consider ALL medical opinions, laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging and treatment options.   

     Auricular Medicine is a means of obtaining information that cannot show up through traditional means.  My patients find it to be especially helpful for chronic problems for which no other doctors can even determine a specific diagnosis.  It has been extremely effective for people who suffer from conditions such as Fibromyalgia, Lyme disease, arthritis, Migraines, neuropathies, and numerous other medically diagnosed illnesses that have not presented any diagnostic evidence, or acceptable response to traditional medications.  The detection of energetic blockages is NOT diagnosis.  Nor is correction of energetic blockages a medical treatment of any disease.   

“How will a Bio-Energetic Evaluation benefit me?”

     The vast majority of patients who have sought out evaluation have had unsatisfactory results with conventional medical testing and treatment.  Bio-energetic testing is intended to investigate for additional information that has not been considered by previous doctors, nor can be otherwise detected.  With each substance tested, your body will respond by the electric field around your ear either: expanding, shrinking or remaining the same.  This will provide tremendous amounts of “micro-information” about your body’s energetic status.  With this approach, your body can essentially tell us which treatments will be helpful to you specifically.  Thus, there’s no generic treatment for anybody, and certainly there isn’t a treatment designed for any disease (that is the realm of conventional medical evaluation and treatment).  

“What treatments do you use to correct energetic blockages?”

     Throughout the world there are many wonderful treatment approaches.  Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years.  My preferences include those with rich scientific backing and a solid history of success.  My methods include: needle-free ear acupuncture (Nogier’s Auricular Therapy), complex homeopathy, cold laser therapy, and Atlas Orthogonal (spinal correction).  These are all methods that strive to eliminate blockages to natural healing.  Each of these methods is covered in detail in separate articles on this website (click the links here, or go to the menu at the top of the screen after you are finished reading this article).  

“Can blood tests and other traditional medical diagnostic tests confirm the findings of Auricular Medicine?”

     Actually, it’s more likely the other way around; Auricular Medicine matching up with the findings of traditional tests.  Make no mistake; the findings of bio-energetic testing are ENERGY findings, not physical evidence of anything.   We feel that energetic indications of many problems can be revealed despite blood tests not revealing such.  This has been particularly the case with people who exhibit all the symptoms of conditions such as Lyme disease, adrenal or thyroid dysfunction.  It’s common for people to not get diagnosed with a condition simply because their blood test results fall within an “acceptable range.”  The key is that energetic changes can take place well before physical damage is sufficient to register through conventional diagnostic tests.

“Does testing hurt?

     It is completely painless and safe.  You will be comfortably lying down with a pillow under your head.  You will hold a metal rod in your hand, with another gently resting on your neck or belly.   I will be holding your left wrist to access your pulse.  At certain stages, an ear acupuncture point may be treated with the NET-2000 electro-acupuncture device.  If you feel anything at all, it will be a slight tingling sensation on the skin of your ear.  You will not feel anything else at all during testing.  Any equipment utilized is classified by the FDA as a "non-significant risk." It is non-invasive and completely safe.

Can Auricular Medicine cure me of a disease?

     You might think I’m “beating a dead horse” here, but I can’t stress enough that Auricular Medicine is NOT a medical diagnostic testing system, nor is it a treatment of any disease.  It “is what it is” – a method of evaluating energy in your body.  In my opinion, too few holistic practitioners clarify the distinction between "medical cure" and wellness promotion care.  One of the wonderful applications of Auricular Medicine is to narrow down and select treatments that will support your body’s function.  If anybody tells you that my treatment "cured" their disease; they didn't hear it from me!  If their own body cured their condition from the inside due to my assistance with bio-energetic and structural correction... I'll be proud to have helped.  

 “How often do I need an Auricular Medicine evaluation?”

     Initial evaluation may require between one and four sessions, depending upon the time allotted and the nature of your condition.  Once you have been given your treatment recommendations, a follow-up exam will be scheduled one to two months later.  Frequency of evaluation also depends upon your health needs or desires.  Some patients ask me to test for many different things, such as food sensitivities, allergies or other troubles.  

“Should I still take my prescription medications if I’m taking homeopathic formulas?”

     Bio-energetic medicine works on a completely different mechanism from traditional medicine; it doesn’t conflict with it at all.  You should continue all medication prescribed by another physician.  I will NEVER advise you to stop taking a prescription medication.  I do ask that if possible, for two hours prior to testing, not take any vitamin supplements, medication, or homeopathic remedies.  

“Can Auricular Medicine replace conventional allergy testing?”

     Once again, this procedure is never a replacement for any conventional medical diagnosis or treatment.  I am not an allergist, nor do I treat allergies.  On the other hand, I do treat people who have allergies and sensitivities to environmental toxins, foods and other substances.  I don’t treat their allergies; I do bio-energetic testing and bio-energetic treatment for their body.  I may sound like a broken record stating this—but the questions always seem to come back to “Can you treat this condition or that condition?”  

     The reality is that nearly everybody I’ve ever treated has had conventional testing and treatment prior to consulting with me.  If you’re waiting for every medical journal to proclaim Auricular Medicine as the gold standard for any testing… don’t hold your breath!  All I can say is that patients all around the world have had great success with it.  It is very inexpensive, painless and non-invasive.  (If you’re interested in an example of Auricular Medicine and allergy testing, you can read the medical journal abstract, written by my mentor, Nader Soliman, M.D.“The Cat in the Ear” – Click HERE).

“What if my family doctor is skeptical about Bio-energetic Medicine?”

     If this is the case, perhaps they should consider the endorsements of some of the most brilliant minds in medicine, from nobel prize winners and biophysicists to a U.S. Surgeon General, and even the well-known Dr. Mehmet Oz (see various quotes listed to the right). 

    I am very suspicious of people who form opinions, and even worse, give health advice regarding something for which they lack any actual knowledge.  It is quite unfortunate that people are ignorantly told by licensed professionals that there is no scientific basis for energy medicine.  If a doctor “blows it off” as insignificant or “phony baloney” and discourages you from pursuing it; perhaps that physician is the one to be questioned.  Ignorance has prevented masses of people from receiving highly effective and much needed health care. American physicians are not required to study “foreign” approaches in school. We individuals, who have chosen to investigate it and acquire such knowledge and skills, have done so by choice, through post-doctorate training programs and taking the time to stay current with international research.  

     Auricular Medicine is European in origin, and is decades old.  But there are very few American doctors who have even heard of it.  The majority of medical research on the subject has been performed overseas.  Unfortunately some American doctors do not accept “foreign” research.  Perhaps they have forgotten that many of the most significant medical discoveries in history were European in origin.  If you are counting on the “blessing” of uniformed physicians to pursue Auricular Medicine; you may be depriving yourself of better health and pain relief. Frankly, I have no desire to try to talk anybody into becoming my patient, nor am I the least bit interested in the approval of other doctors in my community.  Auricular Medicine is at the core of my family’s personal health care, and I am glad to share it with anybody who seeks my help.

“How Does Auricular Medicine testing differ from Muscle Response Testing (Applied Kinesiology)?”

     Testing muscle strength responses to various substances is a well-established and effective means of bio-energetic testing.  There are many brilliant doctors who help people using it.  I applaud those who are proficient in Muscle Response Testing; however I consider it to be more of a subjective art than a science.  With muscle testing, the patient is involved, which can lead to fatigue or weakness.  The doctor is also a variable.  He or she may not be able to consistently test a muscle with the same amount of pressure.  I prefer to use Auricular Medicine for many reasons.  With Auricular Medicine, you lie still as tests are run.  The signal produced by your arteries is an objective finding—it is consistent and straightforward. In fact, several doctors can monitor a patient’s pulse at different artery locations on their body while the bio-electric field is tested.  They will all feel the pulse change (Vascular Autonomic Signal) at the same time.

“Why isn’t there more research on Bio-energetic Medicine?” 

     There's actually plenty out there, but certainly way more drug studies.  Pharmaceutical companies are required by Federal law to do studies in order to put drugs on the market. Manufacturers of homeopathic remedies, supplements and herbs are not.  Since the profits margins from drugs are obscenely high, these corporations have the funds to sponsor the legally necessary clinical trials.  In addition, complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) treatments are custom-tailored for each person.  This makes clinical research trials extremely difficult, since such studies are geared towards proving that one particular thing works for the majority of people with one particular condition.      

“Is Auricular Medicine testing expensive?”

     Actually it is “dirt cheap” compared to most conventional medical testing (but remember that it is not a replacement!).  I believe that low-cost health care approaches get "lost in the shuffle" because they can't generate huge profits for corporations.  Countless patients can attest to the fact that the costs were "chump change" compared to what they had previously spent on ineffective treatments and diagnostic tests.

“Is there any reason NOT to have testing?”

     Yes, testing is not appropriate if you are pregnant, have a cardiac pacemaker or have a life-threatening condition.    

“Why don’t you list different conditions that can be helped through these methods?”

     The answer is simple: I don’t list them because I NEVER treat conditions—I treat people who have conditions.  While this may seem like I’m avoiding the question and playing word games; I am not.  It is a fact.  If you ask me if I treat ADHD, Lyme disease, peripheral neuropathies or Migraines using Auricular Medicine… the answer is NO!  I detect subtle energetic blockages and treat them accordingly.  I indeed do treat people who have various health conditions with great success, by means of improving energetic function. 

     Remember, the Western concept of treating the human body is to diagnose (determine a name) and treat conditions.  The Eastern approach is to treat the body to promote healing from within.  I am not licensed to treat infections, skin disorders, hormone imbalances, shingles, etc. either, nor do I attempt to diagnose such conditions that are not within the scope of my practice.  I am however entitled to use testing and frequency-based treatments such as homeopathy and cold laser, to affect your energetic function.  These are supportive measures to complement treatments to your spine and nervous system, such as Atlas Orthogonal, manual chiropractic adjustments and other physical medicine procedures.
